Combined Home Group… meets this Wed. (July 25^th), 7:30 p.m. at Eugene and Annie’s residence in Mt. Prospect. All Home Groups have been merged for the summer months. For more information on time, directions, etc. contact Eugene at eugenechung71@yahoo.com.

Community News

Congratulations …to our newest group of members to go through the CEC membership course. This is the third class of members to take the step of commitment to CEC. Next membership classes will be held this fall.

Pray for the CYC Missions Team!

Our CYC Dominican Republic Team is still out on the field. They will be returning home tomorrow, July 23, 2007. Please keep them in prayer. If you would like to welcome them back, they are estimated to arrive at church by about 9:30 p.m.

Excerpt of letter from JK Kim (CEC member at basic training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado):

…It’s pretty intense over here with all the running, pushups, pull-ups, marching, flutter kicks, and Air Force facts / quotes that we must memorize. But I’m learning to rejoice in the suffering here, haha, ‘cause suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, and character, hope. Gotta have hope here. I know a couple guys who left ‘cause they it was too much for them.

Anyways, how is Canaan doing? I’m always praying for you guys. Miss Canaan a lot. How is my grade doing in CEC? Are they adjusting well? I’m betting they miss CYC haha from being the oldest to now being the youngest is always a strange adjustment. –JK.

Last Week! It’s the final stretch, all you Canaan VBS teachers! Blessings to all of you on a job well done. May you get much rest and relaxation after this week (until the start of CYC Summer Retreat!).

Membership Class… The third session of CEC membership will be offered today, 12:15 p.m. in Room 105. This is an opportune time for college students to become members of CEC. In the future, only CEC members will be allowed to serve as VBS / CYC teachers, go on missions trips, take part in congregational meetings, etc. Don’t miss out! Today is part 2 of the 2 part class. Newcomers will have to attend the first part of the next session to become full members.

Women’s Group … Meets THIS THURSDAY, June 19 at Katie Yoon’s residence. For more information, contact Annie Chung at anniechung77@yahoo.com.

We Got Game! Open Basketball…will be continue THIS TUESDAY evening at 7:30 p.m. ONLY those who belong to CEC and 2 guests are invited to play during the summer months. Come out and join in on the action! We will be resuming OPEN GYM again for the general public in the fall.

Pray for the CYC Missions Team!

Our CYC Dominican Republic Team is still out on the field. They will be returning home next Monday, July 23, 2007. Please keep them in prayer.

Note from Pastor David Kang: We have been doing VBS....already done it three times. It has been very busy. We have also gone door to door evangelism, today...many people were open to the gospel message. It has been very tiring, but extremely spiritually refreshing here.

It is our prayer that God will open our eyes to see everything spiritually, and to take this back home.

We are all healthy. Please continue to pray for us as you are in our thoughts.

We are the Lord’s Family… Dinner banquet to raise funds for Africa was held last night in the Vision Center. Over 500 people came out to for a night a amazing music, great food, & fellowship. Proceeds will go to help support missions in Africa.

Sometimes, blessings come in weird ways.

The air conditioning for the CEC chapel was supposed to be fixed by this weekend, but the problem was bigger than we expected. Further, the speakers blew out this past Friday at Higher Ground during an explosive worship set. With 90 degree temps expected this weekend, our leadership had to make a decision...

This Sunday, June 17th, please be advised that all CYC and CEC services will be held in the VISION CENTER gymnasium at their respective times (9:45 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.). It will be the first time we hold our services in the new building!

Come out expecting to be blessed in the house of the Lord!

For everyone who calls Canaan their home, come out and join us each week for a night basketball, no matter what your skill level! Starts June 19, 2007, 7:30 p.m.

Graduation Sunday… Congratulations to all the college seniors who have graduated from their respective schools. Special congratulations to the following from our CEC community who have finished graduate school:

Summer Kick-off Picnic… Members of the CEC & CYC gathered for an all EM picnic yesterday at the Indian Trails Park. It was a beautiful day for food, fellowship and fun. (Pictured below: playing group games)
